• How familiar are you with the redistricting process?
• Do you know what your districts’ maps look like?
• Do your maps represent your locale’s Communities of Interest?
• How can YOU participate to ensure fair mapping?

Redistricting/Fair Mapping is the way we change the districts that determine who represent us in legislatures. Every ten years the federal Census Bureau undertakes the decennial census enumeration, which not only determines the number of people living in the U.S. but is also used to determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives, and at state and local levels.
In 2021, we need to get map drawing right because there will be no changes for the next ten years!
In this interactive workshop, you will learn about New York State redistricting, as well as in Westchester County. Learn redistricting terminology; the laws; when, who, where lines are drawn, and how YOU should be engaged. Several Westchester County current district maps will be reviewed. Additional educational resources are also provided.
